Historically, human societies secured food by gathering and agriculture. But in recent times, improved transportation and trade have made more types of foods available.

In developed nations, people generally eat nutritious and healthful foods. But in developing countries, malnutrition is more common.

In addition, there are many grains, which are the raw materials used to make ready-to-eat foods. Grains contain carbohydrates and dietary fiber. Various grain products have different textures, shelf lives, and nutrient content.

Grain-based products include cereals, breads, pasta, tortillas, and rice. Whole grains are rich in fiber and iron.

Vegetables are also an important part of a healthy diet. Vegetables provide a variety of colors, flavors, and nutrients. They can be eaten fresh or canned.
